I am sorry this has taken me a week to get this put together! The girls are back in school this week, which has been a transition for me. In June we welcomed Lucas to our family and I am home with the new baby for the year. Looking forward to having the time to reorganize our doll space and dedicate to playing with my girls and their dolls!
When the summer began with our new addition, it put the breaks on traveling. The Wilmot sale took place the first week of June and there was no way I could go, so sad to have missed it! I really was hoping to complete Saige's collection at the sale. Her balloon and art set were the pieces I couldn't justify buying at full price and hoping I might be able to pick up at the sale

School Days...a Day in Science Class
The school year is quickly moving along this year...here is a peek at 4th grade science with the girls. Today the girls were learning about different forms of plant life, taking into account plants from today and from the past and discovering similarities and differences.

My Life As...Outfits - A Review
I had some errands to run today and made a quick stop to Wal-Mart this morning after dropping Zoey off at school. I am so happy that I did! I happened upon some really fun doll finds, some of which I will share here in this post. These outfits were each $9.99 and included some fun little accessories.
This outfit I thought would be so fun for a spring outfit...it's really adorable.

Fun with Friends!
It has been so long since we have posted on the doll blog! We've tried to keep up with updates on the Facebook page but crazy times have made for some pretty long absences here in AG Doll Play world. Gracie and Lily (Amanda's girls) now have a new baby brother and in addition to my changing careers we also have made a (local) move into a house...that has a room solely dedicated to playing and DOLLS! Hooray! We will share pictures of how we set things up with you soon.
But in today's post we wanted to share some pictures of our dolls in their new home...we had some time to play this afternoon and it felt so good! We had to share pictures of some of our friends with you.
Here is Zoey and Kristen chatting about their new room...they are the oldest friends and this move was pretty exciting for them! Things are so much more calm now that everything has been unpacked and put away. The funny thing about these two is that they must like familiarity because they have decided to set things up in their new house pretty much like things were set up at the "old" house! (Kristen is wearing a hair extension in these photos). :)

Our First Night with Lanie!
We recently sold Zoey's AG horses and stable set...they weren't getting used or played with and we didn't have the space to have them out anyway! It was Zoey's decision and I told her that if it sold she could have the money from the sale. Well, the horses sold this week and it just so happened that we found a listing on craigslist for an AG doll (something that is very rare for our area) and it was Lanie Holland, 2010's Girl of the Year!
This was the photo of the listing:

Thank You Dolly Dorm Diaries!
We are so excited to share with our readers and to discover ourselves that we have been nominated for the "Liebster Award" by one of our favorite blogs, Dolly Dorm Diaries! So fun!
Here are our questions from Dolly Dorm Diaries:
1. What part of doll collecting do you love most? The favorite parts for us are setting up new scenes for playing or photographing...arranging and re-arranging things and coming up with craft ideas for existing doll items or in place of them!2. What are you to your doll(s)? Mom? Caretaker? Friend? Hmmm...for me (Jen) I would be the caretaker...Zoey is a friend to many of her dolls as well as a caretaker and sometimes I think a mom to her Bitty Baby or Bitty Twin.
3. What doll is your mini me? Hmmm...perhaps Rebecca for me (Jen here again) and Claire for Zoey.
4. What is your favorite AG pet? Pepper and Honey!
5. Ever been to an AG Place? If so, where? Zoey and I went to the Mall of America location American Girl Doll store and Bistro and had such an amazing time (you can see more of our visit here). We hope to go back soon!
6. Take your dolls out in public? Zoey has in the past, though hasn't lately. She will sometimes bring her in the car though and leave her in the car to rest while we are out and about.
7. Beach or mountain vacation? Beach!!
8. Favorite vacation spot? Hmmmm...we love Tarpon Springs, Florida (a small Greek village) but I would love to actually go to Greece one day!
9. Favorite AG Horse? Not sure, the larger one that we have...we named it Butterscotch. :)
10. Early riser or night owl? Night owls!
11. Own an AG boy doll? Name? We don't have any boy dolls.
This was fun! Thanks for the nomination and to whomever would like to play along...please consider yourself nominated because we can't just choose our favorites because there are simply just too many! Here are some questions for those of you that would like to participate. Please link up your replies here in the comments so we can stop by and check out your answers!!
1. How did you come to start getting into playing or collection American Girl dolls?2. What does your collection mostly consist of?3. Does your collection continuously change? Do you sell thing and purchase more and do this over and over or do you consistently add?4. Do you share your love of dolls with friends in real life?5. How old are your dolls when it comes to how you imagine them to be?6. How often do you play with or arrange your dolls/collection?7. How often do you shop at American Girl (in the store or online)? Do you anxiously await new releases?8. Do you think playing with or collecting American Girl dolls will diminish as you get older or do you see yourself continuing your love of dolls indefinitely?9. Why do you think you love dolls so much? :)10. What do you enjoy most about sharing your doll love with online communities/blogs/social media, etc.?

It was so nice that we got Emma in the mail just in time for the weekend here...that meant we got to spend some quality time getting to know her right away. Right away she enjoyed some special treats and of course she got to meet and get to know all of her new friends here as well.

{ Special Delivery }
Hello everybody....Lanie here. I am super duper excited to share with you what happened here at the dorm yesterday!! You are just not gonna believe it! So, I was hanging out with Mia and McKenna in the upstairs bedroom cause we didn't have school due to a little bit of snow overnight. Mia was cold so she brought her bedspread cover to keep her warm. And of course her bed buddies had to come too! They are both so cute. So like, just as we were talking about how much we have missed school this month, Cindy bursts into the room slightly out of breath and says "The postman just came and brought this package and it has YOUR name on it, Lanie!!!! You'll never, ever, ever guess who it's from!"

{ A Visit to Oak Island Lighthouse }
On Easter break, I got to go camping in South Carolina! Trey, Cindy, Hollie, Izzy and I got to go this time. The weather didn't really cooperate with the activities we had planned which was sort of a bummer but we made the best of it. The day we visited the Oak Island Lighthouse (just over the border into N.C.) it was really cloudy and sooooo windy! Seriously, I had to totally hold onto the rails when walking up the board walk towards the beach for this photo. If you look close, you can see my earring is, like, horizontal! What a hoot, right? Yes, it was THAT windy.....I felt like I was in a mini hurricane!
At any rate, I got Cindy to take my photos for me and she timed it just right in order to get the light on the lighthouse shining while I was waving. So happy about that!

{ Independence Picnic ~ 2014 }
Hello! I'm Mia and this will be my first ever post! And, even though my post is almost two months late, I still wanted to share it here on the blog! Back in the beginning of July, some of us girls at the dorm decided we wanted to have an Independence Day picnic. We all set about planning the menu; star-shaped sandwiches, fresh veggies, cheese cubes, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream and bomb pops! We set the date and texted a couple of our friends with the info. We were all so excited when the day arrived!
Trey had invited his best friend Alden and he was the first to arrive.....Trey says he always on time.....something about a saying he has; "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, you're left behind!". Yikes, I'd always be left behind according to Alden! He's a really nice guy though and we had lots of time to chat before everyone else arrived.

{ Afternoon at the Bay } Part I
Hello you guys! Long time no talkie!! I have been super excited to share with you about a little afternoon trip Trey and I took to the Chesapeake Bay last weekend. The beach is near the quaint town of Chesapeake Beach, MD. It's a really nice area. Cindy's grandparents used to come here during the summers when they lived in Washington DC. That was back in the 1940's and 50's. It was a welcome break to get out of the city for a couple days and it wasn't too far to travel. Even though Cindy couldn't come with us this time, she told us about all the cool things to look for on our visit. When I first arrived, I found this log that had definitely been washed up on the beach for a long time and it was the perfect place to sit and just take in the beautiful view.

{ Deadwood } Part I
Sup peeps!! I am so stoked to share my adventure with you! As you most likely know by now from the girls, we had to leave the Outer Banks of N.C. and head inland for a few days to avoid those hurricane force winds that Arthur was sharing up and down the coast. So, we ended up at this really small (and kinda boring) campground out in the middle of nowhere.....seriously, I'm not jokin', it was like in the middle of a soybean field! BUT, right across the road from the campground was this place called DEADWOOD. Yep, you read it right. Now, when I first saw the sign as we pulled in to the campground, I thought to myself; oh yeah, that place sounds happenin' (extreme sarcasm) and wrote it off as B-O-R-I-N-G. The next morning I got up and figured what the heck; I'd go and check it out.....I mean what's to lose other than a few precious hours watching the soybeans grow, right?

{ Afternoon at the Bay } Part II
Good golly, I cannot believe it has taken me this long to finish sharing my day at the beach! I was busy with lots of end-of-the-year school activities; we had my 5th grade graduation, stinky SOL testing, super-fun awards ceremonies (I made the A-B honor roll!) and a couple end-of-the-year parties with friends. But now summer is here and I am super excited!
Okay, so, continuing on with my afternoon at the bay.....
I ended up finding 13 pieces of sea glass! I didn't end up finding any rare colors (total bummer!) but I did find greens, whites, and browns. Some of the browns were more amber colored, which are really pretty! I'm excited to add them to my collection!

Happy Valentine's Day!
It's the day after but the wish for you is still the same! For the longest time now Zoey has asked for a set of Bitty Baby Twins. I've discouraged her from them since it would mean the purchasing of two dolls, she already has a Bitty Baby and the twins are a pricey purchase that I worry she would outgrow after just a short while. The first time she asked for them I thought it was just an impulse thing but they remained on her list. I saw this blonde girl Bitty Twin (retired) on eBay for a nice price and she seemed to be in good shape for having a tag that read 2002. She arrived just in time for Valentine's Day and she is so sweet!! Tickled that we got her and boy was Zoey surprised because she wasn't expecting to get a Bitty Twin ever after all our discussions about them. So, she now has one little blonde Bitty Twin who she has named Emma. Emma has warmed our hearts here this Valentine's Day, that's for sure. I know there won't be many more days of her wanting to play with a baby doll so I will treasure the ones that she does while they're here.
Hoping you enjoyed a joyous and love filled day this year!
{ We're All Still Here! }
Well, as you all know, yesterday was Alien Abduction Day! I wore my protective foil hat to school and boy did I get some strange looks! Haha, but at least I was safe.....deep down, I sorta wished aliens had come and taken some of those annoying boys away for at least a few days! Anywho, when I got home, Frolics was waiting for me in his favorite chair.

{ WARNING! Alien Abduction Day! }
Hello all! Christina here....
Did ya'll know that tomorrow, March 20th, is Alien Abduction Day?!?!?! Who knew? I sure didn't and when I found out, I decided to see what I needed to do to NOT be abducted by those goofy looking little creatures! Ewww! Their big eyes like totally creep me out! My brain is not open for business....no reading by creepy, height-challenged little strangers!
So - the answer is..........aluminum foil! Get that! Apparently, if we wear aluminum foil hats to sheild our brains, then it acts like a Faraday cage and stops the aliens from being able to read our minds. Whoa, that is soooooo cool.

{ Amazing Sunset }
So, if you are one of our Instagram peeps, you know that we had to leave the beach in North Carolina for a few days so we didn't get blown away by Hurricane Arthur! We ended up at a funny little campground in the middle of "Nowhere, NC"......well, the town was actually called "Bear Grass" which totally gave us the creeps since neither of us like the idea of running into a bear up close and personal! Any-who, we were not allowed back on Hatteras island for a few days after the hurricane and that made both Hollie and me very sad. We both really missed the beautiful sunsets over the Pamilico Sound that we get to see every evening when camping there.
Finally, we got the official "okay" to return and we arrived just in time to ride over and take in the GORGEOUS sunset that evening! Hollie and I just sat there in silence as the sun dropped in a glorious explosion of color! It was totally amazing!!! Honey and Boo loved it too!

10. What would be your superpower if you could choose? To heal people's physical illnesses, pain and diseases.
11. What would be your supername be? Oh gosh, that's too hard. We'll think on this and add it later.
Questions from: Chestnut Street Dolls
1. What is the name of your blog? Dolly Dorm Diaries Why? Since many girls live here, we thought "dorm" sounded more appropriate than "house". And, "Diaries" because we like to write about all the girls' experiences.
2. Why do you think you got this award? Ummmm. We hope it's because we have fun stories and nice photos to go with them.
3. Do you have the slightest idea what/who 'Liebster' is? (I don't) Nope, but Steampunk Addy has a good explanation on her blog!
4. Do you have, or would you make, any custom dolls? The only custom is our handsome young man, Trey. He was done by someone else. We do have another custom coming to the dorm soon though!
5. Would you ever dye your hair? NOPE!
6. Night owl or morning person? Definitely a night owl - totes!!!
7. Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it and why? No, no nickname.
8. Was it hard to pick 11 people to nominate? YES, because we didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings and we didn't want to duplicate another blog's picks! That was hard to do!
9. Least favorite book character and why. Does Wall-e count? We hated that story and the movie.
10. Was it hard to answer #9? Why? No, cause we totally disliked it!
11. What job do you think you'll have in the future (for adults, what job do you have now)? Well, one of us is a grown up and her job is a professional photographer. :) The other is still a teenager and she is not sure what she wants to be yet. 4. What is your least favorite word? "Like"
5. Where do you wish you could be right now? On a beach with warm sand between our toes!
6. Name one 20th century invention that will be obsolete within the next 20 years. Encyclopedias
7. Use one word to describe your favorite place. Escape
8. Why? Because the beach we go to is very non commercial and we get to spend every day, all day long on the beach doing nothing but looking for shells and sea glass! It truly is an 'escape' from our everyday life and it's never long enough!
9. What is your favorite time of the year? This is a toss up....we love each season for different reasons. Christmas in Winter, Easter in the Spring, Beach in the Summer and the crisp coolness of a colorful Fall day!
10. What is the one skill you wish you had that seems to come naturally to some others? Being organized and being able to KEEP IT THAT WAY! Ugh, it's an everyday challenge!
11. Name the one person who has inspired you the most. We know this might seem hard to believe but it is Jesus because he influences the way we live everyday. We'd be very different people if it weren't for His influence in our lives.
Questions from: The Dazzling Dollies
1. What is your favorite doll outfit? Pick one? No way!! We have too many super cute ones, lol!
2. Jelly Beans or Peeps? Jelly Beans!
3. What is the next doll you would get? Ummm, #61 or maybe make a med/dark skin custom.
4. Beach or boardwalk? Hands down

{ The Old Gray House ~ aka The Shell Shop 2014 }
Hello everybody!! Christina has been nagging the crud-muffins out of me to get this post shared.....she wants to 'move on' to fun fall things, like carving pumpkins and costume parties! She keeps leaving me little notes stuck here and there around the dorm that count down the days until Halloween.....goodness, that is SO Christina! Soooo.....I am excited to finally be sharing about our visit to The Old Gray House a couple months ago. We very much enjoy spending time with and talking with Ms. Mary Parr. She and her husband own and run The Old Gray House. Ms. Mary runs the gift shop inside and Mr. Dewey does all the gardening and handles the shells and cool rocks that he sells in the shacks outside. They have been doing this together since 1988! Dewey Parr is a grandson of the Gray family and he told us that the Gray family and their descendants have been living on Hatteras Island since the early 1600's!! Wow!
Now, on with our visit.....as you more than likely read in the last post, we had to stop TWICE to let Christina have her photo taken with her head sticking thru those 'head in a hole' thingies. I was really getting impatient with her but was really trying to have as much sisterly love as I could muster, even though I could have cared less about those silly painted boards. So, I was super glad when she agreed to stop after the second one and go to The Old Gray House! I could not wait!!!! Here we are upon arrival! I love this old boat they have out in front.....it's the perfect place for a photo-op!

I was really getting impatient with her but was really trying to have as much sisterly love as I could muster, even though I could have cared less about those silly painted boards. So, I was super glad when she agreed to stop after the second one and go to The Old Gray House! I could not wait!!!! Here we are upon arrival! { Besties at the Beach }
I was so excited to be able to go to the beach with my best friend, Faith. We are always so busy at the dorm that we never really have time to just hang out. Since we are both beach lovin' girls, we jumped at the opportunity to go on a camping trip to Outer Banks, NC. It was certainly an eventful trip though! No sooner than we arrived that we had to pack everything back up and leave as we were in the path of Hurricane Arthur. We were able to return just 3 days later and caught this beautiful sunset. The next day, we hung out at the campground and then off to the beach late that afternoon! We wanted to catch low tide at 6:04 p.m. cause that is the best time to look for shells - our favorite thing to do at the beach.

{ Lego Time! }
Sup peeps! Trey here. I've been looking forward to Saturday all week long! I love weekends because I don't have to spend my whole evening doing homework. My plan for today was to take Meatloaf and ride my skateboard out to the caboose to hang out with Alden for the day. Unfortunately, its below 0° outside today.....and I didn't want to fight Meatloaf puttin' on his booties. He hates those things....I swear he must think it makes him look girly cause it is impossible to get them on without sitting on top of him! No worries, I decided to chill with my Lego homies!

{ Wassup Peeps! }
Trey here! I'm not sure if ya'll peeps know this or not but I like to spend time in the outdoors! My friend, Alden, told me about this place up in town where they paved an old railroad track that was no longer in use. He said it'd be cool to skateboard down.....dude knows how much I like to go boarding! He also said that while I was there I needed to lay eyes on a super cool train caboose that has been restored. Alden is way into trains. He knows like, everything, about them!
So, I didn't bring my board cause I was just checking it out but boy - Alden was right - the caboose totally rocks!

So, picking up where I left off......
Alden and I headed towards the train station and on the way took advantage of some cool photo-ops. This one was pretty close to the station.

{ Throw Back Thursday - Halloween 2014 }
My name is Harper and first, I have to apologize for the silly title to this post...especially since technically it's no longer "Thursday" at the dorm as we are on the east coast! BUT, I figured it would still be okay since it's still Thursday on the west coast and in Australia and other parts of our big ole world, right? Super, so glad you all agree!
So, yep, we have been super busy and not had even one extra moment to post about all the stuff that's been going down here at the dorm. Some of the girls have been in after-school clubs like marching band, orchestra and chorus, practicing for their upcoming Christmas concerts. Some of us have been busy after school with Edge Club and others, like me, with basket ball. Boy, fall sure is an exciting and busy time of year! AND, soon Christmas will be here and we are all super excited about that!
So now, back to my Throwback Thursday topic of Halloween though! I know you guys are like, geez, Halloween? Just go with me here, okay? Now, lots of the girls were away Halloween weekend on a camping trip. Since there were only four of us at the dorm with nothing to do on the Saturday after Halloween, we decided to throw ourselves a little party. Hollie and I were the ones to get all the goodies together and decorate the kitchen. We had loads of fun doing it too!

{ Snow Day ~ Inside Fun! }
Well, by now in the DC area, we are starting to get pretty tired of all this snow. See, we are not used to getting this much snow and all though I do love to go outside and play in it, I'm sorta getting tired of not going to school to see my friends. Course, that doesn't stop our teachers from posting "snow work" online for us to do.....my math teacher is quite fond of doing this to me every single time we miss a day of school due to snow. Who ever heard of "snow work"?? I think we should all boycott it! Anywho, I decided to take a break in between my math worksheets and play with my Julie doll and Cindy's Ruthie doll.
I have been sooooo looking forward to playing with my dolls at their new table we got last week. Our good friend, Echo, told us about this "Re-ment" table that was perfect for our dolls. You can see more about the table and chairs and other Re-ment goodies by visiting Echo's blog - From Echo With Love.

{ Vaca Fun with Meatloaf }
So, while I was on our Easter break camping vaca, I decided to take Meatloaf out for a little walk. I was going to go boarding but instead decided to take him out for more of a get-back-to-nature walk cause, you know, he is a dog and they like that sort of thing, right? Just as we started to walk along the campground road, I noticed a super cool, round fluffy dandelion seed head!

{ Happy National Peanut Butter Lovers Day! }
Okay, I bet ya'll didn't know that March 1st of this year is National Peanut Butter Lovers Day, did you? Doesn't that include, like, everybody? I mean, who doesn't, right? So, it got us girls to talking about all the foods that peanut butter is good on!

{ Saying Good Bye is Hard to Do! }
Well, the day has come to say goodbye to our sweet friend, Isabelle! Tomorrow she becomes the official American Girl® "Girl Of The Year" doll for 2014!! We are super excited for her!
After saying goodbye to the girls in the upstairs bedroom, Isabelle popped down to the downstairs bedroom to say goodbye to the rest of us. As soon as Isabelle walked in, Faith called out to Isabelle "Hey, did you see that you had a 'big reveal' on the Good Morning America show this morning?" Faith could tell by the look on Isabelle's face that she didn't believe her so she added, "Yes, yes, you were! It was totally awesome!"
